یہ مصرع نہیں ہے وظیفہ مرا ہے
خدا ہے محبت محبت خدا ہے

کہوں کس طرح میں کہ وہ بے وفا ہے
مجھے اس کی مجبوریوں کا پتا ہے

ہوا کو بہت سرکشی کا نشہ ہے
مگر یہ نہ بھولے دیا بھی دیا ہے

میں اس سے جدا ہوں وہ مجھ سے جدا ہے
محبت کے ماروں پہ فضل خدا ہے

نظر میں ہے جلتے مکانوں کا منظر
چمکتے ہیں جگنو تو دل کانپتا ہے

انہیں بھولنا یا انہیں یاد کرنا
وہ بچھڑے ہیں جب سے یہی مشغلہ ہے

گزرتا ہے ہر شخص چہرہ چھپائے
کوئی راہ میں آئینہ رکھ گیا ہے

بڑی جان لیوا ہیں ماضی کی یادیں
بھلانے کو جی بھی نہیں چاہتا ہے

کہاں تو خمارؔ اور کہاں کفر توبہ
تجھے پارساؤں نے بہکا دیا ہے
